The weekend begins

Friday night Ms.Wawra needed help with EFF at her school. Basically it was like the old Fun Fair at Sheridan Hills but with a trend toward environmentalism. Mom and Dad helped Ms. Wawra teach kids how to make "sound sandwiches"- ie, toungue depressors with rubber bands around them to make them sound like a kazoo. Long day for Ms Wawra. good thing we were able to help.
Ms Wawra still has a smile after teaching 30 kids for a full week, being in her classroom since 6:30 am and teaching her 150th kid how to make a 'sound sandwich' at 7:30 pm. Ain't she a real teacher??!!
One last look before the workers come. Remember Dad's closet with his pots and garden stuff?? going, going, gone!
Here's Dad's workbench! It gets to stay but the wall and Grandpa Georges nail jars have to go. Don't worry Dad saved them. :-)
Lots of wood to get rid of. The wall it's leaning on has to go to. Poor Chloe-- no privacy.
These are the wood haulers. First you lay down the moving blanket. Then you pile the wood on the moving blanket being careful of the nails--lots and lots of nails..........
Then you wrap up the wood in the moving blanket and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y carry the wood out of the basement. And of coarse smiling all the while. :-)
Then you dump the wood out of the moving blanket into the dumpster- all the while it is raining! And then you do it all over again and again and again and.......

There goes the wall to the laundry. Poor Chloe- no privacy!

The 'wood haulers' got a new job- rolling up the floor- not easy! Right Sharon?!

"Hmmm-  that's where those bugs came from"
Chloe has to 'go'. Now what does she do??

Everybody needed a break---Sharon or Chloe? Who needed it more?

ALL DONE- ALL GONE - except for the memories  :-(

Demo of the bathroom

One week to go.....the pressure is on. Memories of three little kids in the tub are just that! :-(
Here goes!! Look at Mom's fake smile. Also, look at her cool shirt.
No smile on dad's face- it's hard work!!!
Why is Dad not wearing  a shoe? Duh, he has to wait for his tattoo to heal!
Awwww.... mom's bath tub....no more bath's for a looooong time. No smiling here.
There's the bathtub all in little pieces.
No little kids taking baths anymore :-(

We put all the pieces in the dumpster and someone stole them overnight. Guess they wanted them for the metal...or maybe they have little kids at home. Wonder if we can claim that as stolen property on our homeowner's insurance :-)
Bathtub alllllll gone!   When do we get the new one???? Mom is already asking!
The last step, taking off wallpaper! Mom says she'll never wallpaper again but she has been know to change her mind before........

One week before construction starts

The Dumpster's Back! Kinda big but we thought as long as we were doing the bathroom we might as well do the basement too.

This is the spot for the new egress window. Chloe's friends will have a new place to visit- up close and personal.

This is where the gas fireplace will be. Dresser represents the firebox, two lines are the mantle, newpaper is flat screen TV on a bookcase. Chloe can curl up in front of the fire.....remember TJ by the fire?

To save money Mom and Dad are doing the DEMO themselves. Dad is just beginning.....

New place for the sofa. Notice the laundry room in back. Chloe's spot is still behind the wall. but not for long!! Will the workers stop pounding while she goes to the bathroom??

The serious demo has gotten off to a good start. Any of you kids want to play any of these games at the little table while Dad is doing the demo?

Oh Yeah! the bathroom that started it all. Putting off the demo as long as we can so Mom can have her baths.

Old sink- new floor

Stay tuned for more demo-ing. The best is yet to come.(Do you think Chloe would agree?)
